[edit] Plot
Thirty years after the legend of Kuchisake Onna first started, rumors start to fly amongst schoolchildren that the disfigured woman wearing a surgical mask is back to kidnap children and bring her back to her lair where she cuts their faces from ear to ear. Amidst the rumors she actually does return and begins abducting children. Schoolteacher Matsuzaki seems to know about the woman and searches for her with the help of Yamashita, a fellow schoolteacher who was with one of the children when she was abducted.
[edit] Original Urban Legend
According to the legend the Kuchisake Onna was mutilated by her jealous husband hundreds of years ago and now wanders around on foggy nights wearing a surgical mask. She asks a person if they think she's pretty. If they attempt to run she chases them down and kills them on their doorstep. In one variation of the legend she leaves you alone if you give a neutral answer to her question, such as "You look average."
