An AV Actress is a female performer who appears in Japanese adult videos, usually appearing nude or having sex. The genre is also sometimes called JAV by people outside of Japan. AVs differ from theatrically-released, softcore pink films in that they're always released straight to video and are generally considered hardcore pornography, with the only limits being Japanese censorship laws.
