Departures (おくりびと Okuribito) is a 2008 Japanese movie.


A musician named Daigo Kobayashi loses his job as a cellist when his orchestra shuts down. Now jobless and in need of money, he returns home with his wife and is forced to take a job preparing corpses for coffins. Everyone around him, including his wife, hates his new job and the idea of handling corpses all day. But for Daigo, encountering each individual death helps him discover how important life really is.
