Haze (ヘイズ) is a 2005 Japanese film written and directed by Shinya Tsukamoto. It was originally presented as a 25-minute short for the opening film of the 2005 Jeonju Film Festival in South Korea entitled Digital Short Films by Three Filmmakers 2005. It was later extended to 49 minutes for theatrical release.

[edit] Plot Summary
Tsukamoto plays a man who finds himself in a pitch dark enclosed area with no memory of how he got there. He struggles to find his way out while he repeatedly gets injured and sees people in agony all around him. Much of the movie is filmed on a DV canera with very little light in a cramped area so the viewer gets the full claustrophobic experience along with the main character. He eventually comes across a woman who is also injured and she tries to convince him to try to escape with her. He is apprehensive and scared at first, but eventually decides to follow her through a pool of water and bloody dismembered body parts.

- Haze was filmed with Panasonic AG-DVX100A cameras and was Tsukamoto's first time using the digital medium.
- Haze marks the second time Kaori Fujii worked with Shinya Tsukamoto, the first being the 1995 film Tokyo Fist.
