[edit] Plot

Junko and Kiichi are a married couple who have been gradually growing apart since the accidental death of their son Kiyoshi. Kiichi eventually gets fed up with Junko's behavior since the incident and takes off with a girlfriend. Junko responds by hanging out with Kiichi's bread-salesman friend who's recently started wearing a green martian costume to attract customers, and although that aspect of the plan never seems to pan out he keeps wearing it anyway. Junko has almost complete control of him because he's in love with her, but she has no such feelings for him. Instead she uses him to drive her around in an aunt's van. Occasionally the dead son Kiyoshi, probably the most level-headed character in the film, returns to narrate the story and point out the absurd behavior of everyone involved.
