Shun Sugata (菅田俊 Sugata Shun) is a Japanese actor. He has appeared in many Japanese films but was first exposed to western movie-going audiences when he appeared in the Hollywood films Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and The Last Samurai. He is currently represented by T-Artist talent agency.

  • According to director Takashi Miike, Quentin Tarantino decided to cast Sugata as Boss Benta for his 2003 film Kill Bill: Vol. 1 because he liked the way he yelled into a phone in a scene from Ichi the Killer.
  • On February 20, 2006 he assisted police in the apprehension of a purse-snatcher and received a commendation from the Mejiro Police Station in Tokyo. According to Sugata, he wasn't initially involved but the criminal just happened to appear in front of him and he reacted.
