The Princess Blade (修羅雪姫 Shura Yukihime) is a 2001 Japanese film based on a Kazuo Koike manga from the 1970s. Although it shares the same Japanese name as the 1973 film Lady Snowblood: Blizzard from the Netherworld, it is not a remake. This film is more loosely inspired by the manga and takes place in the future.
[edit] Plot
In a secluded country, ruling the dictatorship uses a clan of brutal assassins to snuff out any rebel element that would oppose them. The most skilled amongst them, a young girl named Yuki, follows orders and kills whenever she's told to. However, she soon discovers she's been living a lie. The leader she's pledged her life to for as long as she can remember is the same man that killed her own mother, and Yuki herself is actually a princess. She attempts to get revenge but when it fails she's forced to flee and seek refuge with one of the rebels she wouldn't have hesitated to kill only days earlier. It is now only a matter of time before her former clan hunts her down.
