The Sinking of Japan (日本沈没 Nippon Chinbotsu), aka The Sinking of Japan, aka Submersion of Japan is a 1973 Japanese film based on a Sakyo Komatsu novel and directed by Shiro Moritani. A remake of this film was released in 2006.
[edit] US Version
In May of 1975 this film was re-cut with all new dialogue as Tidal Wave and released in the US to capitalize on the popularity of disaster movies at the time. This version is only 82 minutes and has little to do with the original other than the big-budget disaster scenes throughout.
