The Taste of Fish (築地魚河岸三代目 Tsukiji Uogashi Sandaime) is a 2008 Japanese film based on a manga and directed by Shingo Matsubara. The story involves a former bank employee named Shuntaro who ends up working as a wholesaler at the Tsukiji fish market.

Plot[]

Shuntaro Akagi has a successful career at a trading company and has been in a steady relationship with his girlfriend Asuka for some time now. He believes things will work out with her, and he is finally ready to settle down. However, things get complicated when he ends up helping a successful fish trading business run by Asuka's father. The Tsukiji Fish Market is the largest supplier of fish in the world with it's own set of rules and strict tradition that goes back generations. Shuntaro, although competent at his own job, has never been involved in anything quite like this where he's forced to let his business savviness take a backseat to his sense of taste.
