The Taste of Tea (茶の味 Cha no aji) is a 2004 Japanese film written and directed by Katsuhito Ishii.


The Taste of Tea is a film that revolves around the everyday lives of the Haruno family who live in a quiet suburban village north of Tokyo. The characters are as follow: the father Nobuo is a hypnotherapist who teaches his son how to play "GO". The mother Yoshiko who draws anime. The son Hajime who is going through puberty and girls and is obsessed with the beautiful Suzushi. The daughter Sachiko who is being haunted by a giant duplicate of herself. The Uncle Ayano, a sound engineer and record producer taking it easy from his career. The grandfather Akira, who is an eccentric old man and former master artist who inspires Yoshiko to stay devoted to her dream and models for her, and Suzushi who is new to the school that Hajime attends.
