The Witch of the West Is Dead (西の魔女が死んだ Nishi no Majo ga Shinda) is a Japanese movie based on a popular children's novel written by Kaho Nashiki and originally published in 1994. The movie was directed by Shunichi Nagasaki and will be released sometime in 2008.
[edit] Plot summary
Mai is a 13-year-old asthma-sufferer and recently started refusing to go to school. Her parents decide to send her to the countryside where her British-born grandmother lives. Her grandmother is rumored to be a witch so Mai asks her for witch lessons. She happily agrees, but the lessons actually end up teaching Mai about taking control of her life and being more responsible.
