Added by Tokkan KozoTsunekichi Shibata (柴田常吉 Shibata Tsunekichi) was a Japanese cinematographer and director. In the employment of the Mitsukoshi Department Store, he made Japan's first films. His subjects were street scenes and, later, Kabuki and Noh dramas. These were filmed in the late 19th century, but not shown to public audiences until 1904.[1]
