Waterboys (ウォーターボーイズ) is a 2001 Japanese film written and directed by Shinobu Yaguchi.

[edit] Plot

A new attractive young swim teacher inspires dozens of boys to join the swim team, unaware that she actually teaches synchronized swimming. When she goes on maternity leave, all but five students quit the class. In need of a new teacher they find a dolphin instructor and ask for help. He agrees, but only as a means to get them to work for him for free. When he finally decides to ditch them he tells them to practice their synchronization by playing Dance Dance Revolution for a while. His advice unexpectedly works, however, and when he returns he sees they're actually doing well and continues his training in earnest. Eventually a camera crew spots them practicing and, thinking they're all drowning, capture footage which makes it on TV. Because of the publicity, the former members all rejoin the team and the original five members teach them synchronized swimming.
