Release history[]
Zatoichi 14: Zatoichi's Pilgrimage was released theatrically on August 13, 1966.[3] In Japan, the film has been released on videotape and laserdisc in 1992, and in DVD format in 2003.[4]
According to The Digital Bits, Miramax acquired the rights to Zatoichi's Pilgrimage a few years back when Quentin Tarantino was interested in remaking it. When the Weinsteins split with Miramax all movie rights were split up between the two groups and it is uncertain who owns it now. Therefore until the owner decides to release it in the US it will only be available as a region 2 Japanese import without subtitles.[5]
